How the OddScore index works

OddScore reads bookmaker odds movements and sums them up in a simple index. This page explains what the index measures, where the data comes from, how to read it and what it does not do.

What OddScore measures

For each outcome of a market, OddScore computes an index from 0 to 100 based on how the odds behave. 50 means a neutral market; above 50 the market is moving towards the outcome; below 50 it is moving away from it. The index describes what the market is doing, not what will happen on the pitch.

Where the data comes from

The odds used are those published by bookmakers. They are collected automatically, updated frequently and compared over time. OddScore is not a bookmaker: the platform takes no bets and does not let you place any.

Sports covered

OddScore covers football, tennis and basketball, among others. The competitions tracked may change with the sporting calendar and the availability of odds.

How the index is built

The OddScore algorithm works with probabilities rather than raw odds, after removing the bookmaker margin. It looks at how those probabilities change over time and from one bookmaker to another, then sums up that behaviour in a single index. Its detailed parameters are not published and may be adjusted.

Data freshness

The data is updated frequently, but not in real time. What you see may lag behind the market, especially for matches further away. An operator may also change or withdraw a price before you see it. When little data is available for a match, the index may be missing or less representative.

Limits and warnings

A strong signal does not make an outcome certain: sport stays unpredictable and no index guarantees a win. Sports betting carries a risk of financial loss.
