What does "licensed in Italy" mean?
In Italy, only operators holding a remote-gaming concession (gioco a distanza, GAD) issued by the Agenzia delle Dogane e dei Monopoli (ADM) may offer online sports betting. The ADM regulates the market, awards the concessions and publishes the register of authorized concession holders.
A concession confirms that the operator may legally offer the covered activity: it guarantees neither the best odds, nor the absence of disputes, nor the profitability of bets.
A unified concession, no filtering by game type
The Italian particularity: the GAD concession is unified. A single concession holder is authorized for all remote games — online casino, poker, bingo and scommesse sportive (sports betting). The official register does not segment concession holders by game type.
In practice, the list above corresponds to the universe of concession holders authorized for remote gaming, and not to an exclusively "sports betting" list. Some concession-holding brands run only casino in practice. The register shows the concession-holding company, which may differ from the site's commercial name and may run several .it domains, sometimes under several concessions (each identified by a number, the codice). A licence issued in another country does not replace the Italian concession.
Why are some licensed bookmakers not tracked by OddScore?
The regulatory list and OddScore's coverage answer two different questions. The ADM indicates which concession holders are authorized for remote gaming in Italy. OddScore indicates which operators are currently integrated into its odds comparison system.
A bookmaker can therefore be legally licensed without being tracked by OddScore. Conversely, the "Tracked by OddScore" badge never replaces verification with the regulator: it only signals that some of the operator's odds are compared by the platform.
How can you check yourself that a bookmaker is licensed?
No third-party list replaces the official register. To verify an authorization yourself:
- Locate the concession number (codice) and the ADM logo in the site footer.
- Open the ADM register of concessionari.
- Cross-reference the concession number with the official register.
- Check that the domain used matches the officially declared domain.
- Check that the concession is active.
