Sportsbooks authorized in Canada, province by province

This page lists the operators authorized to offer online sports betting in Canada, based on the registers of iGaming Ontario, the AGLC (Alberta) and the provincial operators. In Canada, authorization depends on the province where the player is located.

Official regulatory sources. No commercial ranking.
The 15-second essentials

There is no federal license for sports betting in Canada: each province decides. Ontario has opened a competitive market, overseen by the AGCO and iGaming Ontario, where many private operators are authorized. Alberta opened its market to private operators in 2026. Elsewhere, the online offer remains in the hands of a provincial public operator (PlayNow, Mise-o-jeu+, PROLINE+). A brand authorized in one province is not automatically authorized in the others: the "Authorized regions" column of the table shows where.

What does "authorized in Canada" mean?

In Canada, there is no national authorization: authorization is provincial. The Criminal Code sets the general framework, and each province decides who may offer online sports betting on its territory. A brand is therefore "authorized" in one or more specific provinces, never "in Canada" as a whole.

That is why the table above adds an Authorized regions column. Read it before the brand: an operator can be fully legal in Toronto and have no right to accept a single bet in Montreal.

Ontario: an open market

Ontario is the province with the broadest private offer. The AGCO (Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario) regulates the sector, and iGaming Ontario, its market-conduct body, signs agreements with private operators. For Ontario, the list on this page draws on the sites classed as "sports betting" in iGaming Ontario's official directory, as well as the offer of the public operator OLG.

An operator authorized in Ontario is authorized for players located there, not for the rest of the country, even if it runs the same brand elsewhere.

Alberta: a recently opened market

Alberta opened its market to private operators in 2026. The AGLC (Alberta Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis) keeps the public register of registered operators, and the public operator Play Alberta remains present. The Alberta register does not distinguish between types of games: a brand is linked to Alberta on this page only if it offers sports betting in Ontario and also appears in the Alberta register under the same brand.

The other provinces: public operators

Outside Ontario and Alberta, the legal online offer is that of a provincial public operator. These are PlayNow (British Columbia, Manitoba and Saskatchewan), Mise-o-jeu+ in Quebec and PROLINE+ for the Atlantic provinces (Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Prince Edward Island).

Yukon, the Northwest Territories and Nunavut are not in the list, for lack of a verified official source.

What if the reader is outside Canada?

A Canadian authorization is not an authorization in your country. If you are reading this page from France, Europe or another country, these operators do not, by virtue of their Canadian authorization alone, have the right to offer you bets. The warning displayed above the table says so, in the language of the page.

Why are these operators not tracked by OddScore?

The regulatory list and OddScore's coverage answer two different questions. Canadian regulators say who is authorized to offer sports betting in each province. OddScore does not currently track any Canadian sportsbook in its odds comparison system, so the "Tracked by OddScore" badge does not appear on this page.

How can you check for yourself that an operator is authorized?

No third-party list replaces the official register. To check an authorization yourself:

  1. Identify the province where you are located at the time of the bet.
  2. Open that province's register: iGaming Ontario for Ontario, the AGLC for Alberta, the public operator's site elsewhere.
  3. Search for the brand or domain concerned.
  4. Check that the covered activity includes sports betting.
  5. Check that the domain used matches the one declared.

This approach applies to any country: see the full verification process. An authorization also says nothing about the risks specific to sports betting, which remain the same whichever operator you choose.

Responsible gambling — an authorization does not remove the risk. Sports betting carries a risk of financial loss. A regulatory authorization does not make gambling risk-free. Set a budget, do not chase your losses, and use the available limit-setting or self-exclusion tools. Learn more about responsible gambling.

Frequently asked questions

Is online sports betting legal in Canada?

Yes, but regulation is provincial. Since 2021, the Criminal Code has allowed provinces to authorize single-event sports betting, and each province chooses its own model: open market, public monopoly, or a combination of the two.

Why does the "Authorized regions" column matter?

Because a brand authorized in Ontario has no right to accept bets in Quebec or British Columbia. The codes in the column (ON, AB, QC, BC, MB, SK, NS, NB, NL, PE) designate the provinces where the offer is authorized according to official sources.

What happens in provinces with a public monopoly?

The legal online offer there is that of the province's public operator: PlayNow in British Columbia, Manitoba and Saskatchewan, Mise-o-jeu+ in Quebec, PROLINE+ in the Atlantic provinces. A private site that accepts players from these provinces without being authorized there operates outside the legal framework.

Are the northern territories covered?

Not at this stage. In the absence of a verified official source for Yukon, the Northwest Territories and Nunavut, these territories are not included in the list.

Why is no brand marked as tracked by OddScore?

OddScore does not track any Canadian sportsbook today: this page is regulatory information, not a comparison of Canadian odds.

Sources & method

Methodological transparency

This page is based on the directory of authorized sites published by iGaming Ontario (the body that conducts the Ontario market, under the supervision of the AGCO), the AGLC's public register for Alberta and the official websites of the provincial public operators. The last-verified date shown in the box is authoritative; in case of a recent change, the official source remains the reference.

  1. Start from the official registers of the regulators and provincial public operators, never from OddScore's technical coverage.
  2. Keep only sites authorized to offer sports betting, excluding sites limited to casino, poker or bingo.
  3. Link each brand to the provinces where it is authorized, and flag anything that could not be verified.
