The 15-second essentials

In France, an operator may offer online sports betting only when it holds the matching ANJ license and the domain it uses is covered by that license. The list below has been verified against the ANJ. It covers online sports betting only and does not include casino, poker, lottery or purely land-based licenses.

What does "licensed in France" mean?

In France, only operators holding a license issued by the Autorité nationale des jeux (ANJ) may offer online sports betting. The ANJ supervises the market, issues licenses and publishes the list of authorized operators together with the categories they cover (sports betting, horse race betting, poker).

The list shown above covers the Sports betting category only. An operator licensed only for poker or horse racing does not appear in it. A license confirms that the operator may legally offer the covered activity: it does not guarantee the best odds, the absence of disputes, or the profitability of bets.

Licensed entity and site name: what's the difference?

The official register shows the name of the legal entity that holds the license, not just the public brand name. One company can run several brands, and one brand can use several domains. That is why the table above shows both the brand or site and the license holder.

A license issued in another country does not replace the French license: to offer online sports betting in France, an operator must hold the matching ANJ license, tied to a declared domain.

Why are some licensed sportsbooks not tracked by OddScore?

The regulatory list and OddScore's coverage answer two different questions. The regulator says which operators are authorized to offer sports betting in France. OddScore says which operators are currently integrated into its odds comparison system.

A sportsbook can therefore be legally licensed without being tracked by OddScore. Conversely, the "Tracked by OddScore" badge never replaces a check with the regulator: it only means some of the operator's odds are compared by the platform.

How can I check a license myself?

No third-party list replaces the official register. To check a license yourself:

  1. Open the official ANJ register.
  2. Search for the brand, domain or entity concerned.
  3. Check that the license status is active.
  4. Check that the license covers online sports betting.
  5. Check that the domain used matches the officially declared domain.

This sequence works for any country, not just France — the general method, including how to read a license type and a declared domain, is covered in how to check that a sportsbook is licensed.

Why does the list of licensed sportsbooks change?

A regulatory list is never final. The ANJ may grant a new license, renew an authorization, register a new domain, record a change of brand or withdraw a license. An operator may also voluntarily suspend an activity or leave the market. That is why the last-verified date should always be read together with the list.

Responsible gambling — a license does not remove the risk. Sports betting carries a risk of financial loss. A regulatory license does not make gambling risk-free. Set a budget, do not chase your losses, and use the available limit-setting or self-exclusion tools. Learn more about responsible gambling.

Frequently asked questions

What is a licensed sportsbook?

It is an operator holding an active license allowing it to offer sports betting in the stated jurisdiction — here, the license issued by the ANJ for France.

How do I check whether a site is licensed?

Search its name, holder or domain in the official ANJ register, then check that the status and category match online sports betting.

Is a foreign license enough to bet legally in France?

Not necessarily. The operator must hold the required ANJ license for France. A license issued in another country does not replace it. Always check the local regulator.

What is the difference between the licensed entity and the site name?

The register shows the name of the legal entity that holds the license, which can differ from the public brand name. One entity may run one or more brands and several domains.

Why does the OddScore list differ from the official register?

The official register lists licensed operators. OddScore only tracks some of them to compare their odds. A sportsbook can be licensed without being tracked by OddScore.

Sources & method

Methodological transparency

This page is based on the official register of licensed operators published by the Autorité nationale des jeux (ANJ), filtered on the Sports betting category. The last-verified date shown in the box is authoritative; in case of a recent change, the official source remains the reference.

  1. Start from the official ANJ register, never from OddScore's technical coverage.
  2. Keep only entities whose license covers online sports betting, with a declared domain.
  3. Distinguish the legal entity holding the license from the public brand name.

A license says who may operate. OddScore shows how odds move.

OddScore compares the prices of several sportsbooks tracked in France to make market movements easier to read. Being in OddScore is neither a recommendation nor a regulatory approval.
